Oriflamme Canyon Backpack Outing, Jan. 26-27, 2013:Scribe Reports

Posted on Feb 11 2013 - 4:07pm

On the weekend of January 26, 2013, our group of nine boys and three leaders left to Oriflamme Canyon in the rain. We drove for roughly two hours before we stopped to eat lunch near the trailhead. After eating lunch, we set out with packs on our backs. The walk out, two and a half miles, was relatively easy to hike, as much of it was flat. When we arrived at our campsite, we set up our tents and observed our surroundings. The camp was next to the foundations of the main building of a CCC camp. After setting up, cooking dinner commenced until it became dark, when we started our campfire. The campfire burned for about an hour before the scouts went to bed.

The Quest For Eagle: Evan's Journey (A Call to Action For the Troop)

Posted on Feb 11 2013 - 7:31am

I have finalized the planning process and have begun my "Quest for Eagle".    I have been working with Sunrise Senior Center in Mission Viejo, CA to plan and develop a project to enhance their outdoor garden and sitting area by replanting their garden, replacing their existing benches with more substantial redwood benches, and installing an arched trellis to provide a gateway to the outdoor garden and sitting area.  I expect to complete the project with the assistance of several scouts from my troop, friends, and adults and it is my goal to have the project complete prior to the spring of 2013.
